Philodendron geniculatum is a rare epiphytic plant from Colombia, prized for its upright, sculptural shape and distinctive leaves. Its broad, leathery, evergreen leaves have a strong midrib and sit on petioles with a noticeable joint (geniculum), which gives the species its name. The thick stems can climb or sprawl if supported, forming a dense clump over time. Indoors, it stays compact, usually growing to about 1 m tall and wide.

Native to humid tropical forests on the western slopes of the Andes in Nariño, Colombia, it likely grows on trees or the forest floor among shaded, mossy vegetation. This adaptable habit makes it well suited to warm, humid indoor environments in the UK.
