Originating from South-East Asia and the South Pacific, the banana is one of the oldest cultivated crops. There are more than 400 species worldwide of this exotic plant from the Musaceae family. Add a touch of the tropics to your home, the large paddle shaped leaves make this guy a real showstopper! How to care for your Banana Plant 

Water:  Keep the soil moist, but be careful when watering not to get the soil too wet because this can cause the root to rot. Keep leaves misted regularly to avoid leaf tearing as the leaves can be delicate. 

Light: Keep in an area with lots of bright diffused sunlight.

Humidity: They love humidity, keep in a nice humid area.

Temperature: They love the warmth, about 20 degrees C.

 

Toxic to cats & dogs? No

Air purifying? Yes

Please note it is very rare for banana plants to not have small imperfections due to the delicate nature of the leaves, you may find the leaves with small rips or marks, they are very fast growing and this will not affect the growth of the plant.
