Alpinia rugosa

Alpinia rugosa originates from Hainan island in China. A member of the ginger family, this beautiful exotic plant would be perfect for adding a touch of the tropics to your home. 

The foliage is dark green with a quilted texture, and the undersides are often slightly fuzzy. Mature plants can reach up to 90 cm in height and spread 60–90 cm wide.

In spring, it produces upright flower spikes bearing clusters of white flowers with pink tubular calyces and orange lips.

How to care for your Alpinia -

Water:  Keep soil moist during the growing season, reduce watering in Winter. 

Light: They enjoy bright but indirect sunlight; direct sun can scorch the leaves.

Humidity: As a tropical plant, they love humidity, perfect for a bathroom. They like to be misted or placed on a pebble tray. 

Temperature: They appreciate warmth, do not expose to drafts.
